Guaranteed for 2 or more

How to get guaranteed coverage for your group of 2 or more -

California Insurance Code 10702 more commonly known as AB 1672 says that if you have an employer group of 2 or more and this can be husband and wife if BOTH are working, you get coverage.  The worst that can happen is you are surcharged 10% over the Standard Rates

See Blue Cross Small Group Underwriting Guidelines pages 5 - 7for an example of the details from one Insurance Company.

If any owners or partners don't have payroll taxes deducted as shown on you're DE 6 - please complete and return page 12

FAQ's

So, what forms do I have to give the insurance company to prove I'm a qualified business... to get this?

For Blue Cross, they must have been in business and have proof of being in business (such as the partnership agreement & DBA filing) for at least the last 6 weeks of the quarter prior to the effective date. I.E., if they want a January 1 (Guarantee Issue), they must have their documents signed, dated, stamped, etc. on or prior to November 15, 2001. Blue Cross will also issue coverage to start-up companies with no payroll however it is not Guarantee Issue and the group can be declined.

Health Net requires that a group be in business for at least 6 weeks prior to the requested effective date. Again there must be supporting documentation signed, dated, stamped, etc. proving they've been in business these 6 weeks. They will not write start up groups.
